Meet Edward (Ed) and Jacquelyn (Jackie) Wright


Jackie grew up in Brunswick, Georgia and graduated from Risley High School and attended Fort Valley State University in Fort Valley, Georgia. She graduated in 1971 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology.

Ed was born in Baxley, Georgia, grew up in Jacksonville and graduated from Appling County Consolidated High School in Baxley. He too attended Fort Valley State University and graduated in 1971 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture.


Ed and Jackie begin dating during their senior year at Fort Valley and were married a year later in Brunswick, Georgia. They moved to Morgantown, West Virginia where Ed began his career with the US Department of Agriculture. Jackie began her career with the US Department of Justice/Bureau of Prisons in Morgantown.

They have three children: Katura, LeShan, and Jerrell. Katura lives in Gainesville, Florida. She works for the US Department of Agriculture, and is a member of St. Philip’s. LeShan lives in Marietta, Georgia. He is currently working in Afghanistan as a contractor with the KBR Company. Jerrell lives in Jacksonville and is a student at ITT Technical Institute. He is also a member of St. Phillip’s. Jackie and Ed have four grandchildren: LeShan, Jr. (5yr.), Kendahl (3yr.) and Kennedy (1yr.) who live in Marietta. Robert (3yr.) lives in Brunswick, Georgia.

Jackie retired from the US Department of Justice/Bureau of Prisons in Jesup, Georgia in November 2006. She is a member of St. Philip’s. She is a Lifestyle Entrepreneur with Soul Purpose, Inc. and works part-time at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Brunswick as a role player.

Ed is still working for USDA in Gainesville and plans to retire next year. His hobbies include photography, working in his yard and growing plants.

When ask why he came to St. Philip’s, Ed said” St. Philip’s is a friendly place where it’s easy to get involved in the active life of the parish”
